ISU-Ilagan conducts Christmas outreach program; 250 children receive gifts

The Isabela State University - City of Ilagan Campus (ISU-I) on Wednesday extended its Christmas celebration through a gift-giving act for 250 Grade 1 and 2 students from Brgy. Fuyo, Rang-ayan, and Batong Labang, City of Ilagan.

The said event, which aimed to give smiles to children of ISU-I adopted barangays, was part of the programs of the campus led by its Extension and Training Services.

According to Engr. Alfonso R. Simon, cluster executive office (CEO) of ISU-I, the purpose of the occasion was to give gifts for the pupils who were affected by the past calamities and added that the Christmas season is for them.

“This program is done by ISU-Ilagan every year. Ang purpose po natin ay ang pagbibigay ng regalo sa mga bata kasi sabi nga nila, ang pasko ay para sa mga bata,” Simon said.

Moreover, the CEO reiterated that despite the past typhoons that hit the city of Ilagan, the Ilagueños are resilient to withstand such calamities and will get up at the end of the day.

“We are very resilient sa mga ganitong klaseng pagsubok at kahit na ano man po ang mga pagsubok na pinagdaanan natin, meron pa rin pong rason na magpasalamat tayo sa poong may kapal,” he emphasized.

On the other hand, Bobby Serquina, barangay kagawad of Rang-Ayan, said in his message that the Christmas season is for love, giving, and having hope.

According to the kagawad, the spirit of Christmas will not be affected by the disasters that hit their barangay, such as the successive storms that struck the Northern Luzon Area.

“Ano man po ang nangyaring mga pagsubok sa atin lalong-lalo na po dito sa lugar natin, halos sunod-sunod po na bagyo ang dumating pero hindi po rito mawawala ang diwa ng pasko,” Serquina said.

Aside from the gift-giving, the event also includes parlor games for the pupils, while the parents received pre-loved clothes from ISU-I personnel.
