Isabela State UniversityโCity of Ilagan Campus (ISU-I), led by Cluster Executive Officer Engr. Alfonso R. Simon, expanded its global partnerships by signing three Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with international institutions during the launch of the 1st International Conference on Sustainable Solutions in Engineering, Health, Education, and Technology on September 17, 2025, at the City Hotel in Alibagu, City of Ilagan, Isabela.
These agreements aim to enhance academic collaboration, promote research initiatives, and facilitate student and faculty exchanges. This strategic move underscores ISU-I's commitment to fostering a global educational environment.
The first MOU was signed between Dr. Waleed Khalil Hilal Alrajhi of the Deanship of Planning and Quality Management at the University of Nizwa, Sultanate of Oman, and ISU-Iโs College of Nursing (CON), represented by Program Chairperson Rowena Veni S. Manus, together with the School of Midwifery (SOM), headed by Dean Debbie Dalayap.
The agreement covers collaborative research, instruction, capacity building, and curriculum support, ensuring that gaps and limitations between technology and public and global health challenges are not only identified but also addressed through effective and sustainable strategies.
Moreover, ISU-Iโs College of Nursing (CON) and School of Midwifery (SOM), together with Dr. Chimene Castor, Associate Professor at Howard University in Washington, D.C., affirmed the second MOU.
This agreement underscores the commitment of both parties to provide equal access to safe, quality care through global health partnerships, including nutritional initiatives, joint teaching, and outreach programs.
Meanwhile, the third MOU was signed between ISU-Iโs College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT), led by Dean Dr. Crestian A. Agustin, and Dr. Shih Lun Chen, Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences at Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan.
This final MOU encompasses collaboration in research and innovation on computing, artificial intelligence, smart systems, renewable energy, and structural operations.
With these three MOUs signed, the university and its international partner institutions aim to strengthen their alliance and shared commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Additionally, these partnerships reflect the universityโs vision to be at par with international standards in research, sustainability, and innovationโanchored on its commitment to providing high-quality education and its pursuit of sustainable growth and development.
