On Thursday, multidisciplinary experts, global partners, researchers, and attendees gathered at the Isabela State UniversityโCity of Ilagan Campus (ISU-I) to explore cross-disciplinary innovations through advanced discussions and state-of-the-art research.
This assembly forms an integral part of the 1st International Conference on Sustainable Solutions in Engineering, Health, Education, and Technology, where multi-faceted collaborative strategies and approaches were presented and discussed.
The scientific session kicked off with the registration of participating researchers, followed by a warm welcome address from Engr. Alfonso R. Simon, ISU-I Campus Executive Officer.
Setting the tone for the event, Engr. Maribel Abalos, ISU-I Research and Development Director, introduced the foreign panel evaluators, while Dr. Jolo R. Galabay presented the session chairs and facilitators.
With the preliminaries completed, the session officially commencedโbringing together diverse expertise and fresh ideas under the banner of OneISU in a united pursuit of research and innovation.
To begin, the first session was led by foreign panel evaluator Dr. Hwansoo Jung, Chief Executive Officer of BIOCHAR Company in South Korea, along with Engr. Maribel Abalos, ISU-I Research and Development Director, who offered both international and institutional perspectives.
Meanwhile, Engr. Alfonso R. Simon, ISU-I Campus Executive Officer, and Engr. Crestian A. Agustin, Dean of the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology (CEAT), served as session chairs, while Engr. Abigail B. Bruno, CEAT Secretary, facilitated the program to ensure a smooth and engaging flow of presentations.
Furthermore, the second sessionโchaired by Dr. Jolo R. Galabay and facilitated by Ms. Debbie N. Dalayap and Mr. Ryan M. Amigoโexplored innovative strategies to address global health challenges.
Presenters tackled issues ranging from telehealth and digital tools for disease prevention and management to plastic waste reduction through sustainable alternatives.
Moreover, the third session, which focused on Sustainable Engineering Solutions, Renewable Energy, and Environmental Technology, featured 10 research papers presented by various colleges across the country and internationally recognized universities around the globe.
The researchers had 12 minutes to present, after which they engaged in an interactive question-and-answer segment to elucidate their key points.
Serving as the panel of judges were Consortium Director Dr. Miladis B. Mabutol of CVAARRD (Cagayan Valley Agriculture, Aquatic, and Resources Research and Development) and Dr. Keyzer Laned Sanchez, Research Director at Quirino State University.
In the 4th and final session, advancements in computing technology were underscored, with Jaydwin T. Labiano and Dr. Zach Chamberlaine M. Corpuz, ISU-I Academic Affairs Director, serving as chairs.
Furthermore, to ensure a smooth and organized flow of presentations, Dr. Mark Gerald O. De Leon, Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) Program Chair, Maria Theresa P. Nuez, and Rachel A. Cabajar served as session facilitators.
With over 17 research presenters participating in a hybrid format, the dialogues ranged from cybersecurity and sustainable computing approaches to digital infrastructure development and remote learning tools and equipment.
These sessions enabled presenters, evaluators, and attendees to engage in meaningful discussions across four key disciplinesโhealth, engineering, education, and technologyโpaving the way for the collaborative creation of sustainable solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
